Deborah Kelley
Deborah Kelley is a long-time active contributor to the planning and
development of the scientific programs and experiments associated with
the Ocean Observatories Initiative. Kelley is a marine geologist
studying how submarine volcanoes and rock alteration processes support
life in the absence of sunlight. Field areas include the Endeavour
Segment of the Juan de Fuca Ridge, the accretionary margin off
Vancouver Island, and the Lost City hydrothermal field at 30°N on the
Mid-Atlantic Ridge. She is a Professor of Oceanography and leads an
active research and instrument development group at the University of
Washington.
